The headline question: Where did displayed quote size concentrate, and did executed volume appear in the same area? Quote Flow Profile is a volume-at-price pane built around a comparison: the size that was displayed on the NBBO versus the size that actually traded. Levels that show up in both views deserve attention. Levels that show up in only one view are worth a closer look.

What It Shows

The profile splits the same price axis into two overlaid views. Both profiles are computed over the visible session window, so the picture updates as the day develops.

Reading The Profile

Two profiles make four useful conditions: Use the POC as your first read: it’s the price where activity concentrated. Use VAH and VAL to mark the edges of the accepted range.
The quote profile reflects what was quoted on the NBBO. Use it as visible best-bid/best-ask liquidity context, not as a full-book view.

Comparing Sessions

The profile is most useful when you compare what’s displayed to what’s executing. Agreement between the two profiles is useful context:
  • POC and value area lining up — solid acceptance, level is real
  • Both profiles thick at the same price — that price was repeatedly contested
Disagreement is where the interesting questions live:
  • Trades clustering above where quotes were displayed — buyers had to reach for size; aggressive demand
  • Trades clustering below displayed quotes — sellers were willing to hit; aggressive supply
  • Big quote spike, no trades — a visible quote wall that nobody bothered to test
  • Big trade spike, no quote spike — hidden liquidity absorbed the flow
Pair this pane with Quote Flow to see when the quoted liquidity appeared at those levels. The profile tells you the where; Quote Flow tells you the when.
